Like they say, when there's good there's evil.

The Election Laws affecting GE13 is a doodle. Instead of dipping your index finger in, it'll be painted in a strip. There's just too much work dipping your finger in. The indelible ink for Malaysia's Election Commission(SPR) is fraught with the good and evil maxim. It's now delible! Perhaps SPR might do their job better if THEY do the ELECTING of Malaysian lawmakers. Wouldnt that be more efficient? It will be good for obedient Malaysians.

But lest sane Malaysians think this is a joke, any normal guy out there is all shook up because the EC Worker did not shake the damn bottle!

Shouldn't we hear what really EC Chairman have to say?

EC told to explain delible 'indelible ink'

Apr 30: Hours after advance voting started this morning, the social media were flooded with images of the removable 'indelible ink' marked on voters' fingers.

The discovery by voters led to a barrage of questions being heaped on the Election Commission, which had been dismissing public concerns over irregularities of the electoral system.

The EC had claimed that the ink would last for about a week.

PAS lawyer Asmuni Awi said the party received many complaints from army and police officers that the indelible ink can be washed away from one's index finger using just water and soap.

“We have received many complaints that the indelible ink used today is not permanent and could be washed. Is this true? If so, PAS wants explanation from EC because it had given its assurance that the indelible ink could last at least three days,” Asmuni told a press conference held in Ipoh.

He expressed concerns that the development would lead to double voting on polling day this Sunday.

Despite voters showing how the indelible ink could easily come off, EC chief Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof insisted that there was no such thing.

“Impossible, I do not believe the indelible ink can be removed by any oil-based lubricant... the ink is made from silver nitrate. When the ink is put on the fingernail, it will seep into the skin,” he was quoted as saying by The Malaysian Insider.

Aziz urged complainants to come forward to prove their claims. On police’s report lodged by several Pakatan Rakyat leaders on the incident, Aziz said he would leave it to the police.

Political analyst Dr Mohammad Agus Yusoff meanwhile questioned Aziz’s sincerity in resolving the matter.

“The people are voting on May 5. Can the police and EC detail their investigation results before then?” he asked.

What could you do with RM207 billions? I could do a lot with just RM40 millions, thank you. Probably win the next GE13 for Sabah. That amount could pay for 12 months of the Government of Malaysia's expenditure. The figure of RM251 for Budget 2013 would probably has lots of padding for BN's nonsense and waste.

Would you steal from the Rakyat, dead or living? Some 30,000 were enslaved by the Japs in World War II and that money of RM207 billions was some means of assuaging their conscience and ours. But, Malaysian government ministers and public servants with their grubby crooked fingers have made the money vanished. It left some traces of its disappearance and a Pakatan member of Parliament is demanding answers!

KUALA LUMPUR: The BN government is called upon to explain where the money worth RM207 billion that was given by the Japanese government as compensation to 30,000 forced laborers railway construction from 1942 to 1946 has gone to.

Until now it has not been rightfully handed over to the victims or their heirs although it was received 10 years ago.

Member of Parliament for Bukit Gantang, Datuk Seri Mohamed Nizar Jamaluddin told the House of Representatives, he has documents confirming its receipt by the Government

Shocked he said, on December 13, 2004, the Central Bank issued banker's checks worth RM107 billion and RM100 billion allocated in the form of registered shares of Maybank on 13 December 2004.

This is further evidence that the RM207 billion compensation money for 30,000 victims of forced labor was duly received by the government prior to December 13, 2004 again about 10 years ago.

But until now, the money is not given to the victims or their heirs.

As a result, said Mohamad Nizar, former Chief Minister of Perak, the Association of Former Welfare and Labor Heritage Railway Construction Siam to Burma 1942 - 1946 (Persatuan Kebajikan Bekas dan Warisan Buruh Binaan Landasan Keretapi Siam ke Burma 1942 - 1946) had sent a letter to the government of Malaysia to claim the money.

The letter had been sent to the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak on July 27, 2011 demanding due payment of the money.

"A total of 30.000 Malaysians were involved in the construction of the railway, 60% of whom were Malays, 20% Indians and 15% Chinese. The remaining 5% were of other races. "

According to Nizar, the Prime Minister's Office upon receipt of the letter handed a copy for submission to the Ministry of Human Resources there Aug. 9, 2011.

He also understands that all parties in the government, including the Department of the Attorney General has agreed that the money should be transmitted to the 30,000 victims or their heirs.

"I wish to state here that if the matter was presented and approved by the Cabinet, then why it should be kept by the Treasury or Finance Treasurer for so long?" Nizar questioned in his speech in Parliament.

He said some of those involved have died, but their heirs are still there.

"The father of Tan Sri Datuk Zulkefli Ahmad Makinudin, Chief Judge of Malaya today was one of those who were mobilized by the Japanese government at the time to build the railways. And he is still alive."

"He is still in Ipoh and can describe how terrible it was for the 30.000 Malaysians," Nizar told Parliament.

Nizar added, "If compensation has been duly made, why is the government still keeping silent over the matter?"

For him, this is a solemn duty of trust, breached by namely the Ministry of Finance, Bank Negara, Ministry of Human Resources despite the clear instructions from the Prime Minister's Office that the Cabinet approve its disbursement.

"So I want an affirmation that there is an appeal from the association. They have asked that compensation be rightfully given. Why has it been denied?" he demanded.

He added that the governments of the Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam had also received similar compensation and which were dutifully paid out to the rightful receipients.

If only we knew more. If we really did, we might not need a health department director.

Sarawak health director blames parents’ ignorance for HFMD spread

August 18, 2012

KUCHING, Aug 18 — Lack of awareness among parents has been identified as a factor contributing to poor control of the hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD), said Sarawak Health Department director Dr Zulkifli Jantan.

He urged parents not to send their children who displayed HFMD symptoms to school or take them to crowded areas, and seek medical attention early.

Schools, on the other hand, should continue the daily screening of children upon arrival and refer those afflicted with HFMD for further assessment by medical practitioners.

“Generally, the number of cases reported in Sarawak during the past week (from August 12-17) has decreased by 32 per cent and remains below the outbreak and warning levels, with no closure order being served on any institution,” he said in a statement here today, on the weekly HFMD updates in the state.

Dr Zulkifli said that as of yesterday, the number of new cases reported was 138, as compared to 203 in the previous week, with 26 admissions reported, mostly from Sibu, Miri and Kuching.

So far, the cumulative number of cases reported was 10,794, including 1,048 admissions throughout the state. — Bernama

Malaysian cop found guilty of custodial death

A Malaysian court today found a constable guilty of two counts of causing hurt to a car thief suspect A Kugan, an ethnic Indian, who died in police custody.

Kugan, 22, was arrested on January 14, 2009, to help in investigations into a luxury car theft syndicate.

He died six days later, triggering uproar among the country's minority ethnic Indian population of police brutality.

Sessions Court Judge Aslam Zainuddin sentenced constable V Navindran, also an ethnic Indian, to three years' jail from the date of sentencing for each count, with the sentences to be served concurrently. "The defence failed to raise a reasonable doubt in this case," said Aslam.

The judge allowed a stay of execution pending appeal.

Navindran was accused of two alternative counts of causing hurt to Kugan at the interrogation room of the police station on Jan 16, 2009.

A court had acquitted Navindran of the charges but the High Court later overturned the acquittal and ordered him to enter his defence.

Navindran's lawyer said his client was innocent and had been made a "scapegoat".

The lawyer said he would appeal against the verdict.

28 April was a fine day. Sun was up and hopes flew high. By late afternoon it rained ... on dissenters against unfair election practices in Malaysia. Malaysian Police poured a hard rain of blows on citizens.

Tunku Aziz, Vice Chairman of DAP Malaysia, is trying very hard not to gloat ...that he was right. If only Malaysia took his wise counsel of his vehement opposition to Bersih 3. He could have stopped the fine weather on 28 April though it had rained hard on "politik jalan"(roadside/street politics) that the gracious and gentile Malaysians deeply frown on.

They say Malaysians "mudah lupa". Yes, we slam the car door closed and leave the keys in. Not all the time but some of the time. And you forget.

It was Magrib prayer time at Masjid Jamek on the eve of Bersih Day, when Siti Aishah, garbed in yellow Bersih T-shirt was preparing for prayer. The Police stopped her. The reason: she was wearing the yellow Bersih T-shirt.

We're still sarung stuck to the car door as far as governance, accountability and transparency go.

In the Royal Commission to Enhance the Operation and Management of the Royal Malaysia Police of 4th February, 2004, the dose of reforms were spelt out in no uncertain terms. But Malaysia dozed off.

Among the many weaknesses, the principal one was Police Brutality and corruption. But we forgot.

Perhaps Tunku Aziz might like to reMEMBER? It doesn't matter if he wishes to reMEMBER with DAP or UMNO. Or disMEMBER from whatever and whoever. Perhaps, by so doing he might have sober recall.

We wanna Policy State, not a Police State

I believe this is the difference between myself and Chua. He is not anxiously concerned about corruption, while I am very anxiously concerned about corruption. We need to have a framework for administrating the country’s affairs. What is the plan to bring economic development? I wish to use the Penang model as an example.

This is the result of the Penang Pakatan Rakyat state government’s practice of “money makes money”. This system stresses four key aspects.

• First, “money raise money” through co-operation between the private and public sectors (Public Private Partnerships) in executing development projects.
• Secondly is “money earns money” through an open tender system, the state government can cut costs.
• Third is “money creates money” through innovation and creativity.
• Finally, “money saves money”. If we don’t take money, for sure there will always be money to be saved.

Therefore, the Penang state government has enjoyed a budget surplus every year for four years, and is able to give back to the people through our Senior Citizens Programme with RM 100 every year, and RM1,000 one-off to beneficiaries of senior citizens who pass away. Even newborn babies get RM200 under our Golden Child Programme. When Barisan Nasional was ruling Penang, not a single sen was given, but with the principle of “money makes money”, we have given benefits to the people of Penang, and this is actually an anti-corruption dividend!

In addition to that, in Malaysia, I believe that if we abolish corruption, we will be able to save a lot of money and give back to the people. This is our promise, Penang is the best proof! If we dare to fight corruption, we will definitely have money. Thank you.

Kuching Flood | In the aftermath

Whilst Sarawak politicians are busy contemplating whether PM Najib can save the nation of Malaysia, the parents and siblings of Kho Ying Qi, a Form 6 female student and her brother, Herman who had perished in the flood on 5th January, might be wondering how life can be so fragile in the City of Kuching where you have not one, but two Mayors who were once a book keeper and the other an ex cop.

Not far from the place of the drowning incident at Batu Lintang, politicians and cronies have interests in a piece of land now under development.

Sarawakians used to have an old superstition that before any major works are to be done some lives must be sacrificed to appease the spirits. It no longer matters if people believe in that any more. Those two precious young lost yesterday were sacrificed, because the accident could have been avoided if City Council had done their job better in spending on putting up appropriate fences to save lives instead of preventing citizens from political participation. Fences had been put up by Kuching City Council in certain areas in Kuching for crowd control. But were the two innocent young lives sacrificed to keep Najib and Taib in Office?

As for the butter halal issue, I thought Golden Churn is halal. They have to prove it's not. It's not good enough to say it's in "doubt". It's their job to clear the "doubt".

Or is it their job to perpetuate "doubt"?

The Johor Coffee maker who used lard should be sent to hell, not deprive honest Muslims the opportunity to make a decent living in the cakes for the forthcoming festivities of Ramadhan. And he can take that JAKIM officer with him.

Coffee beans should not be prepared with lard or butter but toasted ... with the right heat and temperature to give the desired flavor of coffee you can pay. You can pay through the roof to get at the 2,000 or so chemicals buried in those seeds. Or you can roast your own with some very heavy metal pot or kuali and get your desired result.

What if instead of paying money for services you cannot get, we legislate that all food makers declare the "porcine" elements on their products? That would teach us to be honest in bizness and life generally. We have now gone to the extent of blaming butter for our bread.

Don't tell me JAKIM doesn't agree with that? Or do they?

But people will say ... ah ... but what will happen to the Halal Hub? I don't care what will happen to hubba-hubba halal hub. Have they given up creativity and innovation under pretence? Can you bring yourself to indecently give up?

What if the Johor Coffee maker had used margarine? Would that jeopardize the whole world production of palm oil?

Not difficult. You don't need any whips to crack or irons to chain them in. Just reduce budget deficits. Then the rich will be masters like they used to be and still want to be.

But will a run-away deficit kill everyone? It should with trending in present day government, the BN being the rule rather than the exception. It's the only government we've ever known federally. You can blame Pakatan next.

When you cut deficits, those that die first will be the bottom 5%. Those that escape the tax brackets die from scarcity and rocketing prices. They'll die when their health deteriorates and of course with zero finance, their lives will be in care, least. Do you think the rich would like it? Some wouldn't know whether it's likeable. Some would actually hate it whether their assets dwindle. While some others would just run away, only to find it'll be no different if they can tell in relative proportions.

So what's the big deal? So when have we stopped finding answers? Or more questions? It's one thing to save and another to spend wisely all in pursuit of real sovereignty - here or thereafter.

If she does a headstand, maybe something interesting will happen in her head. Otherwise, we'll need those Sarawak headhunters again, the "3 Sarawak Ladies" who rolled out of a carpet at a sumptuous dinner, to do another stunt!

It's really the ultimate symptom of incompetent, irresponsible and bad government by the Barisan National (BN). Maybe the psuedo Islamist, Zul Nordin, might declare the world will end soon. But, he might yet jump at Najib's carrots. Zaid Ibrahim thinks Najib is "two thirds crazed". Or did he mean Najib is "tiga suku"?

Malaysian Military against Opposition Parties

The PM's recent visit to China on the heels of his Dad years ago was for brownie points. In addition, he must have been selling oil and gas when our resources are almost depleted. Many are not convinced about this "1Malaysia" jingle that he's coined or whether it has anything to do with governing other than wasting money on T-Shirts, food, airfares flags and event management. Some say that it's so hollow the echoes reverberate.

So where are we? Do we feel safe, despite the flashy "liberalization" news socking our ears the las few days?

The inclination is we're not. The Royal Malaysia Police has been hogging the news to publicize some work but the real work is still undone. What happened to the millions of dadah lost in Police custody? Why have people died in lockups? Is there mercy killing?

Why is Malaysia placed in a human traficking list? Are our borders as porous as our pockets? What's the Malaysian Army doing?

Apparently, they're busy helping UMNO-BN utilizing their intel facilities to keep tabs of who vote for UMNO and who don't. Great, isn't it? Or lame? Blatant abuse of public money to do an unconsitutional act. The Police, too have been busy in Manik Urai. It isn't clear what they're doing. Making commissions on canopies and food catering? We have to pay the allowances, too. Those ordinary policemen would do well to spend quality time with their children instead of intimidating Manik Urai voters!

Meanwhile, Zahid Hamidi, Defence Minister doesn't think Malaysians know what our country's defence ability is. He damn well could be right!
