One for the newspapers? Wait a minute, where's that piece of meat going? Meant for BN politicians' fridge to last them a whole month?

Salak said...

Well, there's a bigger fridge out there, Jong!

I've just been back doing errands and stopped last at the bank.

Did was necessary and the front desk Malay girl said we did need to clear a few things end of the year.

I said I didn't have that many things to tie up and that there were only the usual groceries to take care of.

"Yes, Abang," she sighed. "Our grocery bills are costlier now! I fished out RM$100 dollar note and get hardly any change back!"

Who wouldn't you believe ig it's not people from the Bank?

She querried,"But you don't need this for groceries, do you?"

"But for the end of the year affairs I might be "korban"!", I joked.

"Ya lah! With the global crisis and prices rocketing, it feels like we're all "korban"," she moaned.

And Jong, when you step out your door, you're not quite out yet! We're still in the bigger fridge even out there. "Korban" meat of the Butcher politicians and our State they control!

Gosh! This Abang,if I was not mistaken in the University,he was a real joker! His must have tickled your CM Taib on his funny bones to earned him the present position!I did two posts on the actual cost of living situations in my blog just couple of months back and now they seem so eerily true!yet our 2nd FM,Nor Mohammad says that Malaysia will not be hit by recession in 1999!Who is he trying to bluff?Surely not Jong, you and me...!

Salak said...

kensan,

Glad you dropped by.

Thank for the info.

He's son of Tuan Yg Di Pertua Sarawak, Tun Abang Hj Openg, first after Merdeka.

The "Abangs" and "Dayangs" in Sarawak were at one time akin to royal circles in Malaya.

But are you sure it's the same guy?

kensan said...

yes Abang Salak! That Abang Johari you posted was with us when he took his Dip.Of Education in UM.Not only he tickled the girls green with envy but also the guys,a real clown those days!OOP,the date in my comment should read 2009 instead of 1999,the year when Malaysia was last hit by a recession with lots of bail-outs and the Ringgit pagged.Let's see whether the share market will drop to 700 points in the first quarter of next year!

Salak, you said:

- So these are the 'feudal lords' once and still is except under BN cover?

Salak said...

Yup. Nobility. One time they carried Brooke's umbrellas. Some were ultimately drawn into politics.

In Brunei, the equivalent is the Awang.

Browse through these two links and grasp a general idea -

Rentap was not an abang. He was err... the Oppossition in those days. But he sure did whack the Brit butts and sent them panicking. The got him finally - they had the guns!

Salak said...

kensan,

Thanks, Man!

For the honor! ;)

So he clowned away, did he? We all did to some degree, I mean extent! ;)

But some could clown up a degree! In any case, they say he's got a big sense of humor.

The KLSE is bracing for shocks they say, kensan. But I'm more worried about general effects on prices. Times like these make repressive government nervous. The Americans lost some 600,000 jobs last week. The auto industry is saved. So wonder no more about Proton, they'll do same. We might as well take over everything!

Err...do you think they fixed the KLSE computers already? Sometimes I wonder where it's GIGO - garbage in garbage out! :)

So how's Yong Taufu, Abang kensan?

Salak said...

You heard, kensan, Jong?

Would you like to call me, Abang? :)

Anonymous said...

No no no Salak, "Abang" is taboo incase people be mistakened. I'll call you "Uncle"! That's respect of the highest order, ada hormat lah!

Salak said...

Jong,

How come you were never in the Diplomatic Corp? You could have smuggled a lot of diamonds in! :D

Anonymous said...

I did but they didn't want me for my skin color so I ended up in private sector. Err.. why diamonds? I lost you there.

Anonymous said...

Hoi, you guys forgot all about me!! Din Merican's blog is not the same without the pomelo talk. Even Ariffdanial is yearning for some!

Anonymous said...

Jong,

'Abang' has different meanings. You're right. It could be 'brother', 'husband' or sweetheart or hearthrob - or 'abang becha' meaning the trisha fella in Indonesia which then is demeaning! There is also'abang' as in name of the person.

I suspect Salak wants you to call him abang as in sweetheart, honey or love! Why not just call him "hon" short for honey??

Salak said...

Where did you spring from? :D

Actually, Bean, I have been trying to find out how to get hold of shrek,if you do know how, give me a yell. Have some Sarawak friends over in California and perhaps can let them on about home. Figure out how, please.

No we didn't forget! I'll go over to Din's sometimes and butt in some things - well royalty for instance. I just hope they don't browbeat posters again. Some dinner-ruiner tried! Hehe!

Good to hear from you, Man. The Mayor sends you his warm greeings. Still scared shit to move into the other guys room! :D

Salak said...

Hey Bean,

The Bank Clerk calls me, Abang! Hey, that's very polite lah!

Not sure if Jong should call me so. But I reckon she does have reverence for old nuts :)!

Anonymous said...

Haah! Not sure if my posting would get to see the light of day with all that moderating mechanism in place. I think you gotta find a way to get round it.

You need to put your blog out there. I only found your blog after a few tries - mostly shots in the dark before one hit your ass!

Anyway, good to hear from ya, man!

I know Shrek still visits Din's blog to read. So I suggest you keep his name out there in your postings he'll come your way.

Meanwhile I'll continue 'to inflict pain' on Din Merican for his poor choice!

You gotta understand Din Merican was raised single handedly by his mother and responds to praise from women in mathematical proportions especially those with some honorary titles preceding their names. This one does not even have one she could call her own.

This woman is really condescending in her attitude and has that feeling of entitlement and even came back in another handle! I'll keep hammering and smoke her out. She zeroed in on Jong with her echo of Jong's "Fly by Night Munafiq' and for me, that did it!

Salak said...

{feeling of entitlement and even came back in another handle}
Hey Bean,

That's the dinner-ruiner, 30 years in UM teaching!

Well, have it your way Beano. I thought I'll just ignore them. Maybe you be a kinder mum! ;)

You said Datuk Bandar Kuching. You read once! Probably forgot!

Salak said...

Another thing, Bean,

I see same styles in many many handles! I hope Din is not talking to himself!

Anonymous said...

Salak,

You know when a posting triggers the 'moderating' mechanism and its publication is delayed. She changed her handle though the topic is the same and is a response or a follow up to the one preceding it. How stupid could anyone get?? You cannot get more dumb than that.

Salak said...

Forget the whole thing Bean. Yeah, you might want to snipe! :D

I won't get too embroiled in it!

How well did you bum with DJB. You said you knew him from way back then?!

Salak said...

{Err.. why diamonds? I lost you there. - Jong}

Well, friends bring friends. And we bring in reliable friends or others no less, to work.

Hey Bean,

Nice to find you here among friends! So fast missing de 'Penthouse Therapy' already? hahaha!
Hey thanx buddy, many have told me that you were faithfully guarding your buddies at DM Blog, like a Samurai with his katana ready to slice a few pieces off that 'Fly by night Munafiq' the minute she makes a wrong move! You are a great friend my dear, how can we ever forget you? No, not me, now let me give you a cybger ..hug! :D

So that condescending bitch Halimah showed you her 'feeling of entitlement and even came back with another handle', eh?
Well she must be, isn't she the latest famous brand on Din Merican Blog? Try google and see that mug face but let me forewarn you, some have come back telling me her looks spoil their dinner for the whole year! Hahahaa!!!

Hey Bean,

Ariffdanial bumped into me at Haris Ibrahim's blog two days ago and I just saw his post today. He was not sure if it's me. I have replied him and prompted Salak, Peng and Omar.

"You gotta understand Din Merican was raised single handedly by his mother and responds to praise... " - Mr Bean

NO I don't! Please don't conveniently blame his mother for his failure to open his eyes. Blame no one except himself. The words he used were disgraceful, it gave the impression to 'visitors' that there had been an orgy going on in his blog? How could he have used those words, let alone in cyberspace? If any of you remember, this is not the first time. He had done it before.

To me, for him to suck up to that bitch of a dato, against his friends was most intolerable and unacceptable. It's sad,I expect more propriety from someone who has accomplished so much, no reason to behave the way he did.

Anonymous said...

Salak, you're the gracious host now.. let's have a party here :D

Jong, kind of miss those intellectual exchanges out in DM. Maybe can pick it up from here? But Salak got to migrate to wordpress cos loading his page always end with a 'hang'.

My last post is missing!
Keeps telling me "Please try again".

NO I don't, no excuse! Please don't conveniently blame his mother for his failure to open his eyes. Blame no one except himself.

The words he used were disgraceful; it gave the impression to 'new visitors' that there had been an orgy going on in his blog? Are we that desperate? How low can he go to come out with those those words in cyberspace? Sheer arrogance, must be "ketuanan PKR"!

To me, for him to suck up to that bitch of a dato, against his friends was shameful, intolerable and unacceptable. It's sad, I expect more propriety from someone who has accomplished so much, no reason to behave the way he did.

Salak said...

Jong, Teething problems? ;)

Hey! I let it out twice! And still! Brrrrr ....!

Salak said...

Jong, Maybe, because I'm installing Quick Time! Need it to hear some materials! I' stop that now!

Hey where's Shrek?

Anonymous said...

Salak,

Come to think of it, how is Shrek going to get in touch with you? Did you paste your email address there?
Who knows you may be in luck with a "walk-in interviewee" :D

Anonymous said...

Not to worry guys. Shrek email address is ikarimusa@hotmail.com
