Batang Ai | Art of Posters - a state of affairs?

They're up or in and up. Look! Posters in the river! Brighten up the Great "Ai" a bit! Batang or bukit or whatever!

Elsewhere at the two Bukits...

What's cooking at the two bukits?

At Bukit Selambau, PAS workers potray such clear thoughts about work and purpose. They're not in it for the "markup". They're in it for all of us. We could help them - by picking up Batang Ai on 7th!

In Bukit Gantang, UMNO, has panicked. They want to "kill Nizar". They did try and it didn't work. Nizar will win big in Bukit Gantang. And what's more, the vote count will be "bergantang-gantang". Perhaps Nizar will win with just one vote less of the limit for deposit loss, not to descredit the the electorate but to kill off any lingering arrogance of the UMNO followers. That could be done softly with just a song! Nizar is potential front Malaysian leadership material!

Malaysia - National | Mahathir marah ...

UMNO, says the maestro of Malaysian politics, cannot count and which could explain why they always markup things by 30% and which has caused so much corruption.

He's right of course, as usual!

And even Najib cannot count. He never believed we'd be affected by the global money curse: the guy had said we would not be in even a technical recession. What has happened? If PAS had been in Government we'd understand people would have less than 20 fingers to count with lah!!!

You wonder if Taib Mahmud has an extra hand or leg!!!

Dr M calls Umno Youth corrupt for electing Khairy

"They picked as their leader someone who was found guilty of using money and other inducements in his effort to get elected as the head of Umno Youth…Never before has a person who has been acknowledged as corrupt by the party disciplinary board, by the party and the public being elected and hailed as the leader.

"Pemuda has sullied the image of the party and the Malays. It appears that money is more important than one's race and country, '' said the former party president, who wondered whether the rest of Malaysia would accept a leader like Khairy.

Dr Mahathir also added an element of conspiracy into the youth elections, questioning why it took six hours to count 790 votes.

"Didn't they know how to count?

Batang Ai | Will voters throw flowers in Taib's path? Or will the SPR?

Selangor is currently the richest State. And it's not in BN's hands. Time maybe up for Taib!

We’ll be Malaysia’s richest state: Taib

“I am only the thinker. If you do not put your hand on the flower, nothing will happen,” the chief minister said.

Of the state’s journey to success, Taib said the first wave of politics of development was difficult as it involved a lot of efforts to change people’s mindset.

According to him, now that Sarawakians are mentally ready and willing, the new wave of development should be realised in due time.

Spoilers contemplate getting into the fray ...

"...However, given the current scenario at Btg Ai - with all the grouses, problems faced by our Iban brethren and the backwardness state of the area ( having been neglected by BN all these years) , both of you will be doing a great service to our community by not only graciously withdrawing your intention to contest BUT most importantly to give your wholehearted support to PKR candidate - Jawah.Put aside personal differences (if any). The interests and well-being of the Iban community must be the main priority! ..."

POWER - And Brand New Malaysian Prime Minister?

Malaysian opposition: Newspapers suspended

Agence France-Presse

Posted date: March 23, 2009

KUALA LUMPUR -- Malaysia's opposition said Tuesday that two of its newspapers have been banned for three months, in what they fear is the start of a media crackdown under incoming premier Najib Razak.

Malaysia is entering a period of intense political activity, with a leadership transition, a critical ruling party conference, and three high-profile by-elections all to take place in the next few weeks.

Two newspapers belonging to parties in the Pakatan Rakyat opposition alliance have been targeted – "Suara Keadilan" run by opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim's Keadilan party, and "Harakah" which belongs to the Islamic party PAS.

"We received a letter from the home ministry this afternoon saying Suara Keadilan has been banned for three months with immediate effect," said Keadilan spokesman Tian Chua.

"We fear that this action by the government is a prelude to a general clampdown on press freedom in Malaysia," he told Agence France-Presse.

PAS secretary-general Kamaruddin Jaafar said the party would appeal against the decision.

"This is a violation of the freedom of media and a violation of a political party's right to have its official organ published freely," he said.

"This is another sign of a new era of repressions with Najib coming into power."

Najib is due to replace Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi after the ruling party UMNO holds a general assembly this week.

Batang Ai - Jawah Gerang is the heartland's candidate

Pakatan Rakyat's candidate for Batang Ai (Sate seat) was officially named and introduced at a Press Conference at Media Room at Grand Continental, Kuching, today at 9.30 a.m.

Jawah Gerang is PR's ADUN hopeful with Nicholas Bawin to direct operations to secure the State seat of Batang Ai on 7th April, 2009.

At the PC, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stated in no unclear terms PR will fight for the Bye Election with ethical practice declaring party workers will adhere to same in all measures.

He revealed the Sarawak Land and Survey Department in Sri Aman Batang Ai/ Lubuk Antu have started to get information and or collected ICs and Bank Account Numbers, for obvious reasons. In the KT Bye Election, the Conduit for unethical election practice was the Malaysian Information Ministry, which had it's officer distributing cash to journalists covering the event at the Ministry's Media facility. In the PP Bye Election MAFREL volunteers caught these same acts of blatantly handing out cash to voters!
