The second coming | KD Tun Razak

Bernama reports the second French made submarine, named KD Tun Razak, is in Malaysian territory or perhaps under its waters. The total bill for Malaysia for the two amphibious tonkangs is now RM7.3 billions. What Razak Baginda did with the RM0.57 billions is a mystery still. What is reasonable to figure out is how to say "deal" in French which is "traiter" and goodbye which is "au revoir". Or perhaps "Paris is stupendous at sunset" which is "Paris est extraordinaire au coucher du soleil". Don't blame me if it's not so right. Take it on Google.

Maybe our language services bill at the Malaysian Embassy was higher than the Eifel Tower then as the ambassador could have been a Kelantanese. The French is a noble people and they hold immense pride in their language. It would be very enlightening to hear a Frenchman and a Kelantanese speak at the same time. If you include a citizen from Samarahan it might be "troublant". Why not settle for Mongolian?

Since the order was made in 2002, it has now almost been a decade for the tubs to arrive and we're still not sure if they're of any use. If, God forbid, we need to fire the tubs' arsenal we might have to ask Singapore for the password. Maybe Mahathir Mohammad has the password. After all, the tubs were bought on his watch. Shouldn't he know what he decided on, as PM?

Ali Baba and the 40 Ulamas

Germany beat the hell out of England last night in 4-1. Germany was just too good for a lack lustre team that was no match. Many England fans would insist the result is 4-2 because despite all the wizardry of computerised audio-video tech, the referee could not see the goal England scored that didn't officially count.

There is some kind of scoring in Malaysia. In KL, at first there were supposed to be 100 Ulamas to join UMNO which just can't seem to have enough despite all the paid ones in JAKIM and the Religious Departments and the Universities. They must have more. But like England in the World Cup, they just couldn't score.

They had wanted 100 Ulamas. They couldn't get 100. So Ali Baba got a nice proverbial figure - 40.

Harakahdaily says there weren't forty. There were actually less than 40 and surely much less than 100. Mind you, less than RM2,000 and 6 months jail is another really contentious point.

If Ali Baba signifies wealth, he has got the wealth but hasn't the credibility. Even if we have what Ali doesn't, is credibilty in the unattended 1,001 corruption cases and abundant blunders? National prosperity seems a long way away and we still have to view the models - in hijab, kebaya, jeans or bikinis. The last Malaysian NEM (New Economic Policy) has rags on that nobody likes.

But of course, like Deng Xiao Peng said, it's glorious to be rich. Just make sure you have the right number of Ulamas with or without beards or turbans.
