Rats! Don't lose face!

It's funny why Malaysians place so much importance on "the loss of face". And at the prospect of losing "our" own face, we let the next person have that honor, or shame!

LAT can take a good look at you for 5 mins, then closes his eyes, and he'll get you---with your nose! What better way to place importance on our person, than our with our nose. We need that badly for our durians.

But most of all we need that to smell a rat!

Speaking of rats you must remember that old Legend of Hamelyn, The Pied Piper, as told by the Brothers Grim. The story is a little like DBKL, DBKU or MBKS being infested by rats.

Some of it -
Rats! They fought the dogs and killed the cats,
And bit the babies in the cradles,
And ate the cheeses out of the vats,
And licked the soup from the cooks' own ladles,
Split open the kegs of salted sprats,
Made nests inside men's Sunday hats,
And even spoiled the women's chats,
By drowning their speaking
With shrieking and squeaking
In fifty different sharps and flats.

Why not just watch it on TV, here!

In case, you feel cheated you can download the whole book and read it together with your kids H E R E!

You do want to get rid of rats from your City, I'll bet! Or the Piper will never return your kids back to you!!!

A "Ketuanan Melayu" Conspiracy told in Japanese and which happened in Australia

Bush: "Najeeb is not such a bad Guy!"

MCA plunges ... in local polls!

Hamid Albar, Malaysia's foreign Minister was heard by diplomatic circles to have said, that Najib Razak not Anwar should be the next Malaysian PM. Hamid told US Ambassador to tell Bush, that Najib wished George would still be President. Bush got the message while discussing intelligence on Iran.

Delighted, Bush roared,"For an evil-doer, Najeeb is not such a bad guy!"

Bush don't know where Iran or Malaysia or Polinesia is!!!

Send in the Clown

Must confess, I did see the London Circus. It seemed so long ago, I'm pleasantly surprised it's not yet 2020. Actually, I'd like to see another one.

Somebody from London doesn't think I need to. We have one right here and now---A Malaysian circus! We have flying SD's, butts on tightropes, somebody hanging from a sling.

Bloody Brits are telling us, they left because we didn't ever need the London Circus!

Where is the clown?

Our Malaysian Rulers have met to attend to substantial matters affecting our sustenance. Haven't heard any news about that.

Wonder if they're enjoying the Circus, too?

Bala's SD - Najib rebutts

Najib:

  1. "...a desperate move by Anwar Ibrahim to divert attention from the sodomy allegation he is facing"

  2. “I hope the concerned parties will investigate the matter fully and make the findings public as soon as possible.”

  3. “The responsible parties must be ready to face the consequences if it is found laws had been broken.”

  4. "..leaving it to the police to take action."

What does Najib's boss, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi have to say?

  1. "I do not want to comment on this. All this talk is subjudice. This case is already in court."

  2. "Najib ... would be seeking advice from the attorney-general on the matter."

What say I?

Najib should pay for his own lawyer fees, not kick AG around. We've been paying him loads. In any case Patail has got rebuttals of his own.

What say you?

Malaysians Perceive Corruption To Be Declining - Survey

PUTRAJAYA, July 2 (Bernama) -- A local survey has revealed that Malaysians now perceive corruption in the country to be declining in contrast to findings by Transparency International.

The survey, which was done by the Statistics Department and funded by the Economic Planning Unit (EPU), showed that from the total 10 points of the corruption perception index, Malaysia scored 6.79 points compared to 5.10 points in Transparency International's index. The lower the figure the worse the situation.

According to the National Integrity Perception Index Research Report 2007, which was launched, here today, the people's perception on corruption alleviation was expected to be better this year and in the future.

Malaysian Integrity Institute President, Datuk Dr Mohd Tap Salleh when presenting the findings, said this was due to the government's development policy and increase in transparency, including efforts to make the Anti- Corruption Agency (ACA) a fully independent commission.

Speaking to reporters after the launching, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan, however, said that both findings should not be compared as they involved different sets of respondents.

"This is the first time such the survey was conducted. It's a good start and will be the benchmark to improve national integrity," he said.

The survey also had five other perception indexes, namely in Public Service Delivery Quality (6.60 points), Social Obligation and Business Ethic Practices (6.90), Family Institutions and Community Stability (7.38), Life Quality and Community Welfare (7.41) and Malaysian Courteousness (7.07).

Overall, the survey which was conducted between August and Sept 2007, showed the National Integrity Perception Index at 6.97 points.

It involved 14,967 respondents nationwide, where 67 per cent were from household groups, 26.9 per cent civil servants, and the other 6.1 per cent senior officers in the private sector.

The second survey for this year's index is expected to kick off in the middle of this month. -- BERNAMA

People entrusted with the job stole and are probably still stealing fertilizers, meant as subsidy for farmers, right now. The Agriculture Ministry was told, the Police was told, ACA has no eyes or ears and ....nothing!

What has Dr Mohd Tap Salleh to say about this?

Different strings, different strokes

Sandra Sarah Chang and her magic violin.

This Bach piece, Air on the G String has a kind of magnetism on your breath. Enormous restrain and a calming effect as you concentrate on the draw of the violins bow. On the few long draws of the bow, you could try breathing and sustaining your breath till the note ends. It could clear your head...!

This damsel is such an accomplished violinist its a pleasure to watch her perform even on a 15" screen!

#Following:

So what are they doing with the Petronas Philharmonic. Never heard they came to Kuching. Seldom hear them on steoro TV.

Could they have disappeared up into the ethers on strains of a muted note dissipating into zeros...?

Doctor, your fly is open!

"The future for the rule of law and human rights in Malaysia is dismal. Rule by law and not rule of law supersedes and takes priority in most aspects of ruling the people. The decline of the rule of law and human rights in Malaysia can be traced to the corrupted notion of democracy which the executive holds. It has been suggested that in Malaysia human rights and the rule of law are precepts peculiar to the West which, so the imputation goes, it is inappropriate to apply in Malaysia. This should be seen as a severe distortion because human rights and the rule of law are no longer within the confines of the geo-political parameters of each country. They are now universal rights."

"With an overwhelming majority in Parliament of the same political party since Merdeka in 1957 it has now become a misconception to regard the Malaysian Parliament as the safeguard of rights and freedoms. In many respects that institution is the issuer of licence to violate freedoms."

[Rais Yatim, "Freedom under Executive Power in Malaysia", 1995]

The Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Dr. Rais Yatim gave the most intellectually dishonest answers about the rule of law in Parliament during question time yesterday but the Deputy Speaker Dato' Haji Muhamad bin Abdullah was most unfair and irresponsible in not allowing any Opposition MP the chance to expose Rais’ intellectual dishonesty.

Just a minute, Boss!

Mother and daughter, keeping faith despite the fallow. Pix: Jakarta Post

Elder Brother asks, "So what's going on in KL?"

He has a shelf above where we sit, outside the house, to rap. And today on it was the day's NST Edition.

I told him that all Malaysians have made a fool of themselves out of this, Saiful thing. That we do see this and we'll have to see how it plays out.

He thinks Saiful is just a misguided Youth and he began to relate a story about a friend's son who joined some commune and still depended on parents though he might have two wives.

Saiful is an interesting case because he is a Youth Leader, and youths of all the Pondok Gading or Pusing as some might attest to. So why was this leader of Youth getting all the Ministers attention, I asked. I couldn't get a good answer. To even up things, we might think that he is a muddled up kid with lousy grades, bad finances and a flair for the ridiculous, jazzy, catchy short cut to some whatever. Even for the attention and love of the girl he's supposedly engaged to. But through it all, he was getting recognition---and many Malaysian youths might believe this so, and this the way to go. But not all surely. We hope it's not the majority.

So I asked how come in Indonesia with no Government help, people get together and make sense of the life they had, disregarding the Sunni's and the Shias there. Even though last week, someone claimed to be a prophet there. Of course there, they have the law of large numbers, people wise. They just don't have one physical land mass.

I asked him why was it, being beneficiaries of the imperialist colonialist education system, in school, that we had read Orwell, Huxley, Dickens and when we left and got on with our lives, it seemed to have been erased from our memory? Apparently, he said, nobody bothered. Well, the sinister thing was that some people bothered and because they did, we forgot!

I reminded him that he was more in macro economic planning than I was, and asked why having ploughed money and resources, we didn't have people in management standing up to Mahathir, holding him back and pausing to digest implications of the issues to do with his policies? He said, "Mahathir was an arrogant jerk!"

So what socio-human capital does Abdullah Badawi mean every time he blahed blahed his way daily?

In this fervent mood for change, that Anwar Ibrahim is spearheading, do we need to stand with and up to him or his top people when needed and say, "Just a minute, Boss!"?

Life's elixir and the new rhetoric for a barrel of laughs

I've been watching the price of oil climbing, week in and week out!

I wish I can plough my meagre savings into something that would climb as steadily as that fuelled ascent. Our venerable PM has said it. We can't help it---so get real!

Walking in a dream: weaving in and out of crowded streets with everybody talking and no one listening; the hum is distinct but there are no discernable words.

I want from now on, to watch how the US currency falls. Why worry about the rising oil price?

You can bet your bottom dollar on it!

Enemies? What enemies? The enemy of your enemy ---- is your friend!

I'll give you a high 10 for that! Not for your solitude and loneliness!
