Tan Sri Bujang Mohd Nor - gravely silent over Muslim Cemetary uproar

Bujang - bukan Senang ...

There is an uproar over a Brooke era Muslim cemetary removed without the consent of relatives. On Aug 12, a Muslim official was beaten up while supervising the "unlawful" exhumation of 44 graves. While the land authority denied any official approval given for the development of the land, nobody appears to know anything. If they do, they refuse to say anything on it!

No serious undertaking as this escapes Taib Mahmud's purview, particularly land matters. Bujang Mohd Nor is a distinguished local Public Servant and retired Sarawak State Secretary. That this has happened at all and he being chairman of Lembaga Amanah Kebajikan Negeri Sarawak (LAKMNS)(Muslim Welfare Trust Board) suggests a mystery is brewing.

Are Muslims raiding tombs, too? This was a hot topic at a kampung wedding reception this morning. I had an early lunch but the food was quite mild - nothing especially cili hot!

In June 2008, Rantau Panjang, Sibu, 20 Dayak ancestral graves were levelled by a shipyard owner.
