“Speaking at Parliament lobby, Syed Husin said the government needed to explain in the form of a White Paper why it surrendered the two blocks as it involves "the integrity and the economic importance" of the country, as Abdullah’s explanation was "not satisfactory".
PAS vice-president Datuk Mahfuz Omar, who is also Pokok Sena MP, asked whether the government received approvals from the Sabah and Sarawak legislative assemblies on the border agreement with Brunei.
He said Article 2 of the Federal Constitution states that Parliament may, by law, alter the boundaries of any state. However, the provision also states that such laws shall not be passed without the consent of the state’s legislature and the consent of the Conference of Rulers.
Seaking at Parliament lobby, Mahfuz urged the cabinet to explain the legal provision it used to surrender its claim over the oil blocks. He stressed that the Federal government should have defended its claims over both Limbang and the oil blocks.
Mahfuz also urged for a special parliamentary sitting to discuss the matter.” --theSun
Looks like Sarawak is being sold off again. Last time it was the bloody Brookes who sold it to the British Crown. There have been accusations of bribery.
For the Limbang oilfields, shouldn't there be? Accusations, too?
