News break ...
KUALA LUMPUR: 1 June, 2010 The High Court here has ordered Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) to call off a disciplinary hearing in which four students are charged with campaigning during the Hulu Selangor by-election in April, according to one of the students. - freemalaysiatoday.com

Unperturbed, the 4 UKM students (Hilman Idham, Ismail Aminuddin, Azlin Shafina Adzha and Woon King Chai) are challenging University Kebangsaan Malaysia against the tribunal to be consituted to act on them by applying for a Court injunction as the UUCA/AUKU Law was againt fundamental principles of the Malaysia Constitution. The Hulu Selangor By Election Candidate, Zaid Ibrahim was on hand in support at the Shah Alam High Court where the students filed their application.

Zaid lamented, "Our education system is in the ruins due to all these unneccessary rules. Students should be allowed to think freely".

That's decadence there without doubt.

It's interesting to reflect that life in the ivory towers (or in Malaysia menara pusing) cannot be any different than what's out there otherwise you won't have a life. Unless you're just a car model, like the Saga, Gen-2 or Lost Gen.

Due primarily maybe to the terrible financial problems that engulf Britain now, the Philosophy Department of the Middlesex University have been closed. The Philosophy Department people couldn't stop thinking, so they too are fighting for their turf.

You can follow what they're doing @ Facebook.
