Thanks to Tilo, Zweite Heimat Malaysia for the links to those excellent photographs, which he has kindly changed to a clearer one for the second mosque! Thank you, Tilo!

This is familiar Venetian sight. Wouldn't the canals stink?
They must have a way round it! But how?

It's not really floating, architectural magic. It is really nice.
You should also take a wter taxi from the jetty near Pasar Payang and just go around the river mouth, see the boat building industry and have lunch at the seafood restaurant.
In Marang go to the Majuikan jetty and watch the fishermen bringing in their catch.

Thanks Shrek. There's one at Tanjong Bungah, Penang that looks quite similar with same 'architectural magic'

I wonder how they design sanitation and sewerage with those structures. Perhaps, slightly more money might need to be allocated for those. You just can't dump everything into the water, if it is stagnant and don't flow away.

Hopefully they did. If they didn't the telling effects will be there, say a decade later.

Plenty of places that serves Nira Madu. After a few glasses you might end up liking Elton John.
Most of the major hotels do have bars and you can buy and drink beer at any resorts.
