Nizar finds his office emptied

By TEH ENG HOCK and IVAN LOH

IPOH: All of Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin’s belongings, including personal items and official documents, have been removed from the Mentri Besar’s office.

Nizar arrived at the State Secretariat building at 9.50am in his official car but was not allowed in until he stepped out to ask the security guards for permission.

When he arrived at his office, he was surprised to see that his cabinets and drawers had been emptied, with photos on the walls removed as well.

He said all the items had been taken away under the instruction of State Secretary Datuk Abdul Rahman Hashim.

He described that his office as having been “ransacked”, without even a notice of eviction served on him.

“There’s nothing left, I had all my personal belongings in the drawer but have all have been taken away,” said Nizar at the Mentri Besar’s office on Friday.

“I don’t know where they kept my belongings but I believe they have kept them safely,” he added.

Nizar spoke briefly to pressmen in the room, stressing that the Pakatan Rakyat government was still the legal administration in Perak.

“At the state assembly, if there is a vote of no confidence on me then I will tender my resignation. That process must be adhered to,” he said.

He said he would continue with his daily duties, including contacting some of consultants and potential investors to postpone appointments that had been set earlier.

“I ask the people to remain calm. We are living in a world of law so the law supersedes,” he said.

Asked what would happen if new Mentri Besar Datuk Zambry Abd Kadir moved into the office Friday, Nizar said: “I will probably share the room with him. It’s better to have a ship with two captains isn’t it?”

The press conference was cut short by Abdul Rahman, who ordered reporters to leave the building at 10.10am.

His words fell on deaf ears, prompting Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Azisman Alias to step in with his officers to escort Nizar, his aides, executive council members, and the media out.

But the situation quickly turned into a cat-and-mouse game between the police and the media, as reporters scattered into the rooms of other exco members instead of leaving the building.

ACP Azisman and his men had to go from room to room to constantly remind and escort the 50-odd pressmen out of the building.

At about 10.40am, Nizar was seen leaving the building in the official Mentri Besar’s car.

The success of'coup d etat'
by Najib/UMNO in a way helps reveal the true colors, true character of Najib himself, UMNO and the Sultan of Perak.

In a way it's a blessing, we are able to learn now.

Read what Constitutional expert Prof Abdul Aziz Bari has to say on this crisis:

“He(Sultan Azlan Shah) is the guardian of his people. He must listen to their wishes. He cannot make a decision which the majority of his subjects do no approve”

“If we thought a constitutional crisis was looming yesterday, well it is with us today. Perak is facing a constitutional crisis and it is caused by its own sultan,” he added.

I also agree with Senior Constitutional lawyer Dominic Puthucheary that
Bar Council chairman Ambiga Sreenivasan's remark is regrettable and "improper".

She has no business to comment on the latest Perak political quagmire and constitutional crisis.
Obviously Ambiga’s unsolicited opinion is being taken advantage of and being used by the BN Government via Bernama News on Astro and all government-controlled tv stations to play over and over again for days now, as it it's the whole truth nothing but the truth!

[...Bar Council chairman Ambiga Sreenivasan's remark is regrettable and "improper"...]

I heard it over TV, Jong!

Her remark, correct me if I'm mistaken, is that there many ways to determine how the MB has lost the confidence of the majority. The Sultan has chosen "this" particular way.

I dispute that. The Article 16 is clear and the Sultan is not above the Constitution! "THE SULTAN" is not meant to be an ordinary person who shits and farts. An institution doesn't fart! It is supposed to illuminate and inspire puny little human being like us to to eke out the best in human endeavor.

The Rules are "written" - both "tersurat dan tersirat"! If they're not good, let's determine that and write new ones.

The Office of the Sultan of Perak appears to have been tainted. Who by is unclear at the moment.

Circumstances change. Raja Azlan Shah the Lord President and Sultan Azlan Shah are now 2 different personalities with differeing views of Malaysian Constitution.

I still can't believe it lah, shrek!

A possibility is, that its one thing to be a top notch constitutional lawyer, it's another thing to rule and rule wisely!

His son Nazrin has been pushing for Malaysia's biz governance and integrity and it all sounds so hollow! And bugger has done nothing to lead UM except strut out his royal butt!

The view is different when sitting on the bench than when sitting on the throne. Description of the seats is pretty obvious bench vs throne.

Nazrin was playing to the gallery, trying to be a prince of the people but which group of people? Furthermore he's a Raja, wait till he becomes Sultan, his view will also change.

Hey, Jong!

You're the Perakian! What of this Nazrin fler?

Is he a Kepala angin also?

Jong said...

Salak,

I'm not Perakian, I only squat in Perak.

As for Nazrin, whether he is kepala angin or not does not concern me, it's his wife who should worry. I am only interested in whatever he cakap, semua mesti bikin!
